Correcting the Spelling of a Customer's Name During Interim Servicing

If customers contact interim servicing and advise their name is misspelled on our records:

  • Review the Note – located in the eFolder in Encompass – to confirm how the spelling of the customer’s name was documented at the time of origination


If the Note reflects the correct spelling of the customer’s name and the name is misspelled in FICS:

  • Assure the customer their Note contains the correct spelling of their name, and advise this will be corrected
  • Email your supervisor / manager and include the following
    • Subject line: “Name Spelling Correction – Loan # 0000000000”
    • Attach a copy of the Note containing the correct spelling of the customer’s name
    • Indicate in the body of the email the customer’s name is misspelled and should be corrected, and include the correct spelling of the name
  • Supervisor or manager will coordinate the change to FICS


If the Note does not reflect the correct spelling of the customer’s name and the name is misspelled in FICS: 

  • Advise the customer to provide a copy of their driver license or State issued identification that shows the correct spelling of the last name
  • Customer may email or fax this information to Interim Servicing for the fastest processing of the request
  • Upon receipt of documentation from the customer, email your supervisor/manager and include the following:
    • Subject line: “Name Spelling Correction – Loan # 0000000000”
    • Attach a copy of the documentation provided by the customer containing the correct spelling of the customer’s name
    • Indicate in the body of the email the customer’s name is misspelled and should be corrected, and include the correct spelling of the name
  • Supervisor or manager will coordinate the change to FICS


Customers may request a name change due to marriage, divorce or other legal name change scenarios.  Advise customers we are not able to process a legal name change while the loan is in the interim servicing period with Fairway.  Please wait until the loan is with their new servicer.
